BITS School of Management (BITSoM), Mumbai, led by Kumar Mangalam Birla has tied up with the industrialist’s alma mater, London Business School (LBS). This tie-up will enable students to undertake a two-week immersion programme at the London Business School in order to help them gain global exposure.

Under the newly formed partnership, LBS professors will also teach at BITSoM and the institutes will jointly produce and head an executive programme to foster women leaders in India.

BITS Pilani chancellor and BITSoM governing council chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla said, “The immersion program will deepen students’ understanding of cross-cultural leadership and expose them to a new wave of entrepreneurial energy. This unique proposition of an Indian MBA with a truly global and multicultural flavour, curated for the new age of business, will undoubtedly raise the bar on what is considered to be a premier management education in India.”

The Mumbai based management school was launched in January 2021 under the aegis of the prestigious BITS Pilani. The institute is likely to resume classes from July depending upon the Covid-19 situation and the guidelines from the government. All these conditions will determine the nature of the class, whether it is going to online, offline or hybrid learning.

On the collaboration, LBS dean Francois Ortalo-Magne said, “We at LBS are keen to help train purpose-driven individuals from diverse backgrounds that are willing to embrace change and embark on a transformative journey with BITSoM. Together, we can have a profound impact on India and the world.”

The immersion programme at LBS will include an Entrepreneurial Project Lab where students will get to work with experienced entrepreneurs in small teams. They will get to learn from their experience and offer refreshing and new perspectives.

“Experiencing multicultural settings first hand, and solving problems with entrepreneurs in these settings is the edge that the LBS experience can provide to BITSoM students,” BITSoM dean Ranjan Banerjee said.

The first batch of BITSoM is a mix of fresh graduates and experienced candidates selected from top colleges across the country. Some of the faculty members at BITSoM are from Kellogg, Wharton, NYU, MIT Sloan, Texas Austin and Cornell.
