IIT Patna Offers New Course: BTech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science

Keeping in mind the potential growth and expansion of these technologies in various sector, a full-fledged BTech degree as well as certifications in artificial intelligence and data science are being launched by IITs. Both IIT Hyderabad and IIT Guwahati already offer the BTech AI and data science programme.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna has recently launched the AI and Data Science BTech programme. IIT Patna already offers B Tech programs in various disciplines, including computer science and engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering and metallurgical and materials and this new program on AI and DS will provide students with abundant internships and jobs opportunities across the world.
Here’s a brief on course structure, eligibility criteria and curriculum.
Course Structure – BTech AI and DS
A more advanced form of BTech computer science, this curriculum is intended for students who are curious about the algorithms and big data structures. A total of 36 seats are available in BTech AI and Data Science at IIT Patna.
It is a four-year full time undergraduate degree programme with total 299 credit points divided into eight semesters. There are six or seven subjects which candidates need to study along with the proposed electives such as Database & Data Mining, Introduction to Computational Topology, Geometric and Topological Modelling for Scientists and Engineers, Mobile Robotics, Cloud Computing etc. to get full-fledged degree. Apart from this National Cadet Corps (NCC), National Social Service (NSS) and various other extra curriculum activities have been made part of the first semester.
Eligibility criteria -BTech AI and DS
Admission to all three programmes will be done on the basis of JEE Advanced score. Additionally, candidates must have completed class 12 (or equivalent) examination from any recognised state or central board.
Course fees – BTech AI and DS
The tuition fee for General and OBC (CL) candidates shall be 1 Lakh rupees per semester. The SC/ST/PH students shall get complete tuition fee waiver. The most economically backward students (whose family income is below Rs. One lakh per annum) shall get full remission of the tuition fee . The other economically backward students (whose family income is between Rs. One lakh to Rs. Five lakh per annum) shall get remission of 2/3 rd of the tuition fee.
