After the hunger strike and protest by the left-affiliated All India Students’ Association members and other student union bodies, demanding for reopening the DU campus; the vice-chancellor of Delhi University, Mr. Yogesh Singh said to a media agency that the decision would be made for the reopening of the Delhi University Campus after the Diwali.

Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh also said that he had a recent meeting with the principals and teachers of the university and colleges under DU, where they suggested that the college timings should increase by a couple of hours more in order to accommodate the extra number of students to avoid overcrowding. This is because there is a fear of a rising number of coronavirus cases in the city again.

Just a couple of days back, the AISA or the Left Affiliated All India Students’ Association along with other student bodies went on a hunger strike for the pressing demand of reopening of the campus. Delhi University had already resumed the laboratory classes for the final year post-graduate and undergraduate students from the 16th of September 2021, but as per reports, the attendance record was not quite high.
