NEP 2020 to Give Direction to India’s Goal of Aatmanirbhar Bharat: PM Modi

During the inaugural session of the Governors’ Conference on the National Education Policy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 will play an important role in helping to fulfil national aspirations and give direction to India’s goal of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and helping the country to become more self-reliant.

The Prime Minister also pointed out that the NEP 2020 will adopt an approach of learning rather than studying and will go beyond the curriculum and will focus on critical thinking.

Under the title ‘Role of NEP-2020 in Transforming Higher Education’, the conference is has been organised by the Ministry of Education.

The NEP 2020 which was approved by the Union Cabinet in July 2020, will replace the National Policy on Education framed in 1986 and is aimed at introducing transformational reforms in school and higher education systems to make India a global knowledge superpower.
