YUVA 2.0: PM Launches Mentoring Program for Younger Authors

The Ministry of Education, Division of Higher Education, recently launched YUVA 2.0 – Prime Minister’s Scheme for Mentoring Younger Authors.

This is a creator mentorship program to coach younger and aspiring authors (below 30 years of age) to promote studying, writing, and book tradition in the country, and to challenge India and Indian writings globally. Because of the widespread impact of the first version of YUVA, which included widespread participation from young and aspiring authors in 22 different Indian languages and English, YUVA 2.0 is currently being released. The inauguration of YUVA 2.0 (Younger, Upcoming, and Versatile Authors) is in line with the Prime Minister’s vision to inspire young people to learn about and admire India’s democracy. YUVA 2.0 is a part of India’s 75th Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to bring to the forefront the perspectives of the younger generation of writers on the THEME: ‘Democracy (establishments, events, individuals, constitutional values – previous, current, future)’ in a revolutionary and artistic manner. This strategy will thus aid in the development of a pool of writers who can write on a variety of issues to promote Indian heritage, tradition, and information systems.

NEP 2020 has emphasized the empowerment of young minds and the creation of a learning ecosystem that would equip young readers/learners for leadership roles in the future. India leads the way in terms of the youth population, accounting for 66% of the total and ready to be tapped for capability development, and hence country building. To mentor a brand new generation of younger creative writers, there is an impending need to take initiatives at the highest level, and in this light, YUVA 2.0 will go a long way in laying the muse of the longer-term leaders of the innovative globe. The National Book Trust, India, as the Implementing Company, will ensure phase-by-phase implementation of the Scheme under well-defined levels of mentorship. The books created under this scheme will most likely be published by National Book Trust, India, and will also be translated into other Indian languages, ensuring the exchange of heritage and literature and therefore selling ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.’ The selected young authors will collaborate with some of the world’s best authors, attend literary festivals, and so forth.

The plan will help to create a pipeline of authors who can write about many aspects of democracy in India, including the past, present, and future. Aside from that, it will provide a forum for aspirational youth to express themselves and provide a comprehensive view of Indian Democratic values on national and international platforms. This strategy is based on the notion that twenty-first-century India must cultivate a technology of younger authors to develop ambassadors of Indian literature. Given that our country is rated third in the world for book publication and has a treasure trove of indigenous literature, India should compete on the global stage.

The YUVA 2.0 (Younger, Upcoming, and Versatile Authors) schedule is as follows:

• • Scheme announcement on October 2, 2022.
  • 75 authors will most likely be picked through an All India Contest held at: https://www.mygov.in/ from 2 October 2022 to 30 November 2022.
  • The proposals received can be considered between December 1, 2022, and January 31, 2023.
  • The winners will most likely be announced on February 28, 2023.
  • From 1 March 2023 to 31 August 2023, the younger authors will most likely be mentored by eminent authors/mentors.

Under the tutelage, the first set of revealed books will most likely be released on October 2, 2023.
