Education Minister launches NEP 2020 initiatives and academic calendar

The Department Of School Education And Literacy has launched a booklet on one-year achievements of National Education Policy (NEP) implementation on the 24th of August 2021 to celebrate its completion of one year. This booklet launch was virtually done by the education minister Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan.

 

In addition to the booklet launch, few other NEP 2020 initiatives were also taken. This include

  • NIPUN Bharat FLN resources and other tools on DIKSHA, which is a different vertical for the FLN resources which is being developed under DIKSHA to assist the teachers of states and Union Territories for implementing the NIPUN Bharat program.
  • Virtual School of NIOS for the students of classes 9-12. This would provide them access to various advanced digital learning platforms via virtual live classrooms and labs.
  • NCERTs Alternate Academic Calendar of 2021-22 would include a weekly plan of interesting activities, with reference to different learning outcomes, chapters, and themes taken from the textbook or syllabus.

 

During this launch program, the Education Minister also informed that NEP is an important philosophical document and not just a document representing numbers and data. As per his thoughts, education is not just about collecting degrees but building a perfect human character through knowledge.

NEP is just the report of what the education department has achieved in the past year.

The program was attended by the senior officials of the education department from various states and union territories.

The NEP 2020 stands for a substantial transformation of the entire Indian education system at various stages.

As per the report, the department has also achieved other milestones. This includes:

  • Aligning of Samagra Shiksha scheme with NEP 2020

  • NIPUN Bharat Mission on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy

  • Vidya Pravesh- a three months School Preparation Module,

  • capacity building of senior secondary teachers under NISHTHA

  • Blueprint of National Digital Education Architecture (NDEAR),

  • Assessment reforms

  • Digital content on DIKSHA
