IIT Kharagpur’s Board of Governors has a new chairman in Rajendra Prasad Singh
In a statement released on Wednesday, IIT Kharagpur announced that Rajendra Prasad Singh, a former chairman and managing director of Power Grid Corporation, has been named the new chairman of the board of governors. With effect from July 12, 2022, Singh, who is presently the chair of the Board of Governors of IIT Bhubaneswar, would also be in charge of IIT Kharagpur.
Singh served as the Chairman of the Board for NIT Patna for three years between 2009 and 2012 in addition to his roles as the former Chairman and Managing Director of Power Grid Corporation and Independent Director of Azzure Power Global Ltd.
He started his career in TISCO in power generation, operation, and maintenance of power projects after receiving his BTech and MTech in Mechanical Engineering from Banaras Hindu University. Singh takes over as the new Chairman of IIT Kharagpur from Dr. Sanjiv Goenka.
