Dr S Siva Kumar

Dr Sivaguru S. Sritharan is Vice Chancellor, MS Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Bangalore.

His leadership accomplishments include serving as the first Provost and Vice Chancellor of U. S. Air Force Institute of Technology, Dean of Engineering and Applied Sciences and Director for the Center for Decision, Risk, Controls and Signals Intelligence at the U. S. Naval Postgraduate School, tenured full professor and Head of the Department of Mathematics at the University of Wyoming and as the Science and Technology Branch Head at the U. S. Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center in San Diego.

Dr Sritharan obtained a BSc (Honors) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Sri Lanka, a Master of Science degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics from University of Washington and a Masters and Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from University of Arizona.

He initiated and led the hypersonics collaborative at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio to stimulate innovation and interdisciplinary research towards achieving artificial intelligence-enabled autonomous hypersonic weapons.

Dr Sritharan has widely published in aeronautical sciences and in mathematics. His research focus has been on low and high-speed aerodynamics, electromagnetics, magneto-hydrodynamics, control theory and stochastic processes, motivated by defense applications such as hypersonics, enhancing autonomy for unmanned aerial systems, directed energy weapons, signal and signature intelligence, etc.

He also serves on the editorial board of a number of professional journals and he has also served the US Department of Defense in important roles such as representation on science and technology panels and delegations to international defence organisations.
